DIVING
DIVINGThe red sea and great barrier reef may have their coral ,but for water teeming with an astounding variety of marine life it’s hard to beat the translucent waters around lombok’s gilies . The mélange and abundance of marine life that finds its home in these waters is among the richest in the world .
It’s this sheer profusion of sea life that draws from all over the world .
SURFING
Powerful Indian ocean swells strike reefs and well up , forming perfect waves that peel off to the left and right , taking their riders with them .
Unlike other hot surf locations , crowds are not a problem .
Locations such as desert point , Mawi and Ekas head a list of world class breaks . on a good day desert point is reputed to be the best left breaking wave on the planet .
Tubular perfection is what most waveriders seek . On Lombok surfers go deep as they explore perfection in the moving tunnels of the watery realm .
TREEKING
Lombok’s volcano , Mt. Rinjani at 3726 meters, waits to be climbed as a safe but ardous 3-day trek to view the turquoise waters of its crater lake . Or it can be climbed literally close-to –the-edge for an attack on the high summit .
Trekking rinjani – possibly the most spectacular high country scenery in south east asia .
HUNTING THE KOMODO DRAGON
Komodo island lies between eastern sumbawa and western Flores together with other two tiny garss-covered islands : padar and rinca which from komodo national park , a protected wildlife reservation .this is the home of the giant lizard known as the “ Komodo Dragon” which was thought to be myth until the turn of century .
This is the world’s largest monitor lizard which scientifically named Varanus Komodoensis , when full grown it measures up to 4 meter in length and about 150 kg in weight.
They are fearsome creatures with enormous and sharp jaws , squat muscular legs .
The waters surrounding the island are rich in coulorful corals , fishes , and selfishes , but there are hazardous rip tides and strong currents which make diving too risky for novice
